Charlie Baker ‘optimistic’ Cape Cod bridges replacement project will be launched by end of 2022

Cape Cod’s aging Bourne and Sagamore bridges are finally on the road to replacement, it appears, after Gov. Charlie Baker said he received a verbal commitment from a top Army Corps of Engineers official that they’re moving forward with the project — and picking up the $2 billion tab.
Early plans for the new bridges include significantly wider roadways, which will allow for two lanes of vehicle travel in each direction as well as bicycle and pedestrian paths.
